pynetdesign.modelling.utils.calculate_seismic_moment(Mw)[source]#

Calculates the seismic moment \(M_0\) from moment magnitude \(M_w\) according to Kanamori (1977)

\[M_0 = 10^{\frac{3}{2} M_w + 9.1}\]

where \(M_w\) is the moment magnitude.

Parameters:

Mwarray_like: moment magnitude

Returns:

M0array_like: seismic moment
