pynetdesign.modelling.homo.calculate_fpeak#

pynetdesign.modelling.homo.calculate_fpeak(v, Q, r, fcorner=None)[source]#

Calculates the peak frequency \(f_{peak}\) for particle velocity in a homogeneous medium given the wave velocity \(v\), the attenuation factor \(Q\), and the distance from a source \(r\) using:

\[f_{peak} = \frac{vQ}{\pi r}.\]

The peak frequency estimate is only valid for frequencies below the corner frequency [Eisner et al., 2013].

Parameters:
vfloat

wave velocity

Qfloat

attenuation factor

rfloat

distance from the source

fcornerfloat, optional, default: None

Corner frequency that limits the peak frequency. If None, defaults to 100 Hz.

Returns:
fpeakfloat

Peak frequency for particle velocity
